Adult Leader Training
Come to camp as a new Leader or Parent & leave FULLY TRAINED and ready to help your Scouts!
A variety of training courses are offered during your stay at camp. You are already here, why not use your time to expand your knowledge of Scouting and troop operations? Our experienced and knowledgeable commissioners will facilitate helpful sessions and great discussions. Our training offerings include:
- *Position Specific Training for SM / ASM
- *Troop Committee Challenge
- *Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)
- *Hazardous Weather – now Online only
- Merit Badge Counselor Orientation
- Safety Afloat & Paddlecraft Safety (Wente Scout Reservation only)
- Safe Swim Defense
- Climb on Safely
Some courses can be completed in a day & others will take the full week. There is no additional fee for any of these courses. Don't miss out on this opportunity to receive all of your training in just one week.
Whether you are an experienced Scouter looking for a refresher to get up-to-date on the latest program changes, or a new parent just starting in Scouts BSA, you’re welcome to drop in on any sessions. To receive the training certification card, participants must complete all sessions of the course. “Partials” are not offered if you are unable to attend all sessions.
If you are an experienced trainer in your home district or council, and would like to contribute to our training program, please contact the Commissioner Corps when you arrive in camp.
* These courses are required to be a “Fully Trained” Leader.
