Looking for a unique and impactful way for Scouts to advance in their journey toward Eagle? Advancement Day on the Hornet 2026 offers an unforgettable experience aboard the historic USS Hornet Museum—combining hands-on learning, leadership development, and advancement opportunities all in one day.
The USS Hornet Museum is one of the most iconic historic ships on the West Coast. Serving in World War II and the Apollo space program recovery missions, it provides an inspiring backdrop for Scouts to learn, grow, and lead.
The day is divided into two sessions - morning & afternoon. Scouts can earn up to two Merit badges, one in each session. The catalog of Merit Badges being offered is on the registration page.
The USS Hornet Museum also offers an option to spend the night; this offer is not part of the Advancement Day event.
♦ The event is open to all Scouts BSA.
NOTE: One adult must register and remain on the ship with each Unit that registers. Solo Scouts must have an accompanying adult.
♦ All Youth and Adult participants must wear Class A uniform
♦ MB Prerequisites - Completion of any identified prerequisites is suggested, and scouts must bring proof of completion to class in order to get signed off on those completions. If prerequisites are not completed, the scout will not complete the merit badge that day.
