High Adventure

What is High Adventure?

High adventure camps give scouts an opportunity to participate in exciting activities with other scouts from all over and increase their scouting and leadership skills.

High Adventure GGAC Style . . .

Ocean to the Redwoods

This tailored adventure is a new program for our council. Join a diverse cohort of 18 campers in a week long, high adventure experience. Curated for the camper who is eager for excitement: backpacking, beach exploration, leadership development, high ropes course, and outdoor survivalist teachings abound.

It's for you if you are outdoor focused, leadership enthused, and looking for an experience not offered at any of our summer camps! If you’ve already earned every badge at camp, this is the next step in your Scouting career. You will walk away with a deeper appreciation of nature, yourself, and your place in the world.

The program will start and end at Camp Royaneh, located in the stunning redwood forest of Cazadero. We will go off property for an overnight backpacking experience, a trip to local tidepools, river excursion, and ropes course activities can all be expected. A rough outline of merit badge requirements that will be covered can be found HERE; scroll the tabs at the bottom of the screen to also see a weekly itinerary. All Barriers to Abuse, Youth Protection Protocol, and Guide to Safe Scouting will be followed.

Your cohort leaders consist of three former summer camp staff members. We have professional experience in outdoor recreation and youth development. With a combined experience of over 20 years of backpacking, your journey will be facilitated in safe and enthusiastic hands.

Registered members of Scouting America, aged 14-20. All genders are welcome to participate. We will only take 18 Scouts. Provisional Scouts are highly encouraged to attend. You can also bring a buddy or two. We intend for a group of strangers to leave with a familial bond and request that no more than 3 Scouts per Troop join this experience.  Campers must come prepared with their own materials to backpack a single overnight, in addition to a week at camp. A full detailed list can be found HERE It is important to note that participants will need to be able to carry 40-50 lbs on their person for a portion of the trip.

Any Scout already attending one week of camp, will be able to attend this program at 50% off! ORA is a personal growth experience that happens to be hosted at a summer camp. While it is 'camp' it is primarily an exposure to leadership in the outdoor world.

Wolfeboro Trek

TREK is finally returning to Camp Wolfeboro! Join a cohort of 12 campers in a multi-day high adventure experience. Curated for the camper who is eager for excitement: backpacking, exploration, leadership development, and outdoor survivalist teachings abound.
