Troop 777 Court of Honor

Berkeley’s newest troop for girls, Troop 777, is making a serious name for itself through rapid advancement and a deep commitment to the values of Scouting. Starting with just three members, the troop has already doubled to six driven Scouts in just eight months. At a recent Court of Honor, which was the unit’s second in less than a year, the troop celebrated a major milestone: all six Scouts achieved the rank of Tenderfoot.

Driven by Tradition and Mentorship . . . The troop’s foundation is built on a legacy of local excellence. It was established by Berkeley Boy Troop 6 parent alumni, with past Eagle Scouts serving as Assistant Scoutmasters. These leaders, none of whom have daughters in the troop, exemplify the Scouting tradition of mentorship and giving back to the next generation of leaders.

The Scouts themselves are demonstrating incredible focus, often arriving early to meetings to hone their skills. Their dedication extends beyond rank requirements: they are already active in their community, building service hours by picking up trash and improving their Berkeley neighborhoods.

The Heart of the Scouting Adventure

Troop 777 has wasted no time getting into nature. They recently attended the Herms Camporee and are preparing for a week-long journey at Camp Wolfeboro this summer. These opportunities are made possible through the Golden Gate Area Council (GGAC), which maintains world-class facilities like Camps to provide essential outdoor experiences.

Supporting Future Success

The rapid rise of Troop 777 is a perfect example of why community support is so vital. Programs like Friends of Scouting (FOS) help the GGAC provide the infrastructure needed to start new units, train dedicated adult volunteers, and keep camp fees affordable for every family. When we invest in troops like 777, we are investing in a supportive environment where youth can fail safely, try again, and ultimately succeed in becoming the leaders our community needs.
