Trinity River Crew 2 Alameda

Venturing Crew 2 , Alameda Adventure on the Trinity River

In the fall of 2024, four members of the Alameda Venture Crew 2 set off into the breathtaking nature and wildlife-rich waters of Trinity River. We carried out a 3-day trip with a total distance of a little over 30 miles.  The put-in was Lewiston Bridge below the Trinity Dam and the takeout at Junction City. On our first day, we decided to go without any of our camping gear and simply warmed up on the class 2 rapids and stopped at the Steel Bridge campsite. On our second day, we worked our way down to the Douglas City campground, where we stopped for lunch and then boated onto I-Beam campsite, which wasn't marked on the map and instead had coordinates (40.666433, -123.005309). With our camping gear, the boat seemed a little more unresponsive to turning and harder to avoid obstacles. From there, we headed to our takeout area, Junction City, and ended our trip. With beautiful, cold, and clean water, along with the plethora of class 2 and 3 rapids, this trip was truly amazing and fun as we were always pleasantly surprised to see a never-ending stream of rapids only 50 yards apart at times. The main highlight of the trip was the salmon run, where we saw salmon swimming up the river for spawning season. I can concur that if given the opportunity, all four of us would partake again in this truly fun event.
