Board & Volunteer Leadership

Golden Gate Area Council (GGAC) is a destination council for Scouting professionals. Opportunities for mentoring and training are available with a team of energetic and dedicated tenured professional staff. The staff supports the executive committee, council executive board, and our volunteer pool in delivering Scouting’s mission to all interested youth in our council’s territory.

Facilities

  1. The Council Service Center (which houses a Trading Post) are located in Pleasanton. We lease a program office in Alameda (which houses a Trading Post). A full Scout Shop is located in Pleasant Hill and a third Trading Post is located in Fairfield.
  2. The council operates five camping properties: Camp Herms (El Cerrito), Camp Wolfeboro (Arnold, operated under a US Forest Service Lease), Rancho Los Mochos (Livermore), Camp Royaneh (Cazadero), and Wente Scout Reservation (Willits).
  3. There is a leased Sea Scout Base with a dock, pier, and workshop at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco in use for over 60 years.

Being a Sea Scout is about more than sailing—it's about leadership, teamwork, and pushing boundaries. The Golden Gate Area Council has given me the tools to navigate life’s challenges and discover who I am.
